When Emack & Bolio’s opened our first shop in Boston back in 1975 we decided that even though our ice cream was already incredible, sometimes you can NEVER have too much of a good thing. With this in mind we went out and bought what was proclaimed to be “the best hot fudge available.”
With taste buds a-tingling, we tested it and…..instantly knew we could make something a whole lot better.
So, we hit the shops again, bought a big steam kettle and began experimenting with different new combinations of chocolates and ingredients - all of them hand made from scratch.
We then asked Boston’s ice cream connoisseurs - the kids, chefs, rock stars, foodies and college students who made up our customers - to taste test over 200 different recipes during a one-year period. Finally unanimity prevailed (trust us - it was tough!) and miraculously everyone agreed on the very same recipe that we use today. We’ve NEVER changed our hot fudge sauce recipe or the quality of our ingredients.
